I get a time out when I try to access our project’s web server (www.confluence.org). (The experimental web server for the new PHP version - https://www-dev.confluence.org/ - is also inaccessible.
It’s back again - thanks.
And now it’s timing out once again. What’s going on here??
And now it’s back once again. Could you please explain what’s going on, and whether/when this problem will be fixed for good?
And it’s been having trouble again today (August 11). It would be nice to get an explanation of what’s going on…
Hi Confluence,
We have been having similar problems at openhumanitiespress.org. We’re thinking that perhaps badly behaved web crawlers are to blame. Apparently the AI rush has spawned so much crawler activity it is almost like a denial of service attack for small sites. If this is the cause, does anybody have thoughts on how to mitigate?
OHP,
p.s. cool project confluence!
I suspect that the problem has something to do with the web server’s interaction with ‘cloudfare’ (which it appears iBiblio is using to mitigate excessive traffic by web crawlers/bots etc).
But what concerns me most is the iBiblio staff’s complete lack of responsiveness here. They are presumably reading these messages, and must be aware of the problem. Attention iBiblio: Why do you not respond???
