Hello,
I am attempting to mirror the Project Gutenberg archive. I was following rsync instructions off Mirroring How To | Project Gutenberg but when I switched to rsyncing from ibiblio, I saw your notice that implied rsync is no longer the preferred method.
How should I download the Project Gutenberg archive? And how should I keep up to date with new additions?
It’s safe to ignore the rsync warning from ibiblio - it’s been there for ages.
Note that there are two subsets to the collection. Also note that there are some mirrors that might have higher speeds than ibiblio - the mirror list has some details, and your performance will depend on your own location & setup.
I just read The Fall of the House of Usher on this site https://www.ibiblio.org/ebooks/Poe/Usher.pdf. Later, I found out it is different that the original Edgar Allen Poe short story that is posted on Project Gutenberg and other sites. Can you give information on the version that you posted. Did Poe publish different versions of this story? Do you typically post versions that are edited for content for certain audiences?
