503 Service Unavailable No server is available to handle this request.

I’m seeing an error code 503 (503 Service Unavailable No server is available to handle this request.) when attempting to access my site at Freax-o-Matic Roto-Rama presents The Philm Freax Archives.

https://ibiblio.org and links from that page load fine, but Memory Overflow gives the 503 error.

https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ says it’s just me.

I can access my directories via FTP. :thinking:

@freax An issue with a webserver was found and resolved on the morning of July 31. Please check if the site works for you now. https://ibiblio.org/mal/MO/philm/ now loads for me as a blank page with no errors (HTML is present which renders as blank). If there is still anything not working correctly, please let us know.

@milberg Thanks for your response.

I saw that the issue was resolved yesterday.

The problem with that page loading as a blank appears to be only with Safari and has been so before this latest issue. I don’t believe it’s a server issue - but perhaps you have an idea why it’s happening?

Everything else seems to work fine, eg: Phil Franks: Miscellania which also uses a script.

I you look at the source code of Freax-o-Matic Roto-Rama presents The Philm Freax Archives you’ll see that it randomly loads a selection of alternative pages (/malbin/randtab.cgi) that reloads a different one every 60 seconds.

It loads correctly in Firefox.

What browser are you using?

@milberg I just noticed that Freax-o-Matic Roto-Rama presents The Philm Freax Archives loads fine if it’s prefixed with http://, it seems that it’s the “https” that cause the problem.

Is that a server issue or a bug in Safari?

@freax I see the same issue, that the page displays with http, but not with https (in Firefox). I’ll let you know if I can find more about what’s causing this.

@milberg I may have fixed it by changing the “$basedir” in the cgi script to https, it was originally http. It seems to be working for me.

Please let me know if it works for you now.

@freax yes, it works for me using https now

@milberg Splendid, many thanks for your help!
